Greater Grand Crossing saw two homicides in one day this week, a RedEye analysis of preliminary police data found.
On Sunday, a 22-year-old man was shot to death in the 7400 block of South Vincennes Avenue and an 18-year-old man was fatally shot in the 400 block of West 79th Street, police said.
Greater Grand Crossing has recorded seven homicides so far this year, RedEye determined. The community area logged 15 homicides last year, according to RedEye data.
Citywide, gunshot homicides were recorded in Ashburn, Brighton Park, Humboldt Park, Kenwood, New City and Washington Park in the last week, RedEye determined.
Meanwhile, on Monday, a man in his 50s was beaten to death in South Lawndale and a 31-year-old man was stabbed to death in North Lawndale, police said.
Eleven homicides have been recorded so far in April, according to RedEye data. Forty-seven homicides were recorded in April last year, RedEye determined.
