Chicago has logged three homicides so far this year, as of Wednesday afternoon, according to preliminary police information.
On Monday, an 18-year-old woman was stabbed to death in the 2900 block of West 63rd Street in Chicago Lawn, police said. One day earlier, a 16-year-old boy was fatally shot in the 500 block of East 38th Place in Douglas, according to officials.
On Friday, a 30-year-old man was shot to death in the 300 block of West 114th Street in Roseland, police said.
Forty-four homicides were logged in January 2013, tied with June for the fourth deadliest month of 2013, RedEye determined.
Meanwhile, December ended last week with 40 homicides, up from 27 homicides in December 2012, according to RedEye data. On the last day of the year, two homicides were logged.
A 25-year-old man was fatally shot in the 3700 block of South Wells Street in Armour Square, and a 26-year-old man was shot to death in the 7100 block of South Vincennes Avenue in Greater Grand Crossing, according to officials.
