Chicago on Sunday logged its 100th homicide of the year, a RedEye analysis of preliminary police data found.

A 40-year-old man was stabbed to death Sunday in the 4100 block of West 26th Street in South Lawndale, the Tribune reported.

Chicago logged its 100th homicide on April 30 in 2013 and March 19 on 2012.

Chicago has recorded 31 homicides so far this month. The city logged 24 homicides in April 2013.

Homicides are up 3 percent year to date versus 2013 and down 37 percent versus 2012, RedEye determined.
