Austin has recorded three homicides in the last week, a RedEye analysis of preliminary police data found.

On Tuesday, a 26-year-old man was shot to death in the 4900 block of West Polk Street, police said. Three days earlier, a 22-year-old man was stabbed to death in the 900 block of North Waller Avenue, officials said.

On Jan. 5, a 51-year-old man was fatally shot in the 4600 block of West Monroe Street, police said.

Austin has recorded three homicides so far this year, RedEye data shows. The West Side community area logged 29 homicides in 2011, according to RedEye data.

Meanwhile, in West Englewood, a 32-year-old woman was shot to death Saturday in the 5600 block of South Justine Street, police said. Three days earlier, a 15-year-old boy was fatally shot in the 5700 block of South Laflin Street, officials said.

West Englewood has recorded two homicides so far this year, RedEye data shows. The South Side community area logged 29 homicides in 2011, according to RedEye data.

Citywide, gunshot homicides were recorded in the last week in Auburn Gresham, Belmont Cragin, Edgewater, Englewood, Greater Grand Crossing, South Lawndale and West Garfield Park, data shows.

In Avondale, a 24-year-old man was stabbed to death Saturday in the 4000 block of West Melrose Street, police said. In North Lawndale, a 25-year-old woman was found strangled to death Monday in the 1900 block of South Harding Avenue, officials said.

Twenty homicides have been recorded so far this month. Police logged 28 homicides in January 2011, RedEye data shows.
