The South Side recorded four homicides in the last week while the West Side logged two homicides, a RedEye analysis of preliminary police data found.
On the South Side, fatal shootings were recorded in Avalon Park, Roseland, South Deering and Washington Park, according to information from police. The victims ranged in age from 19 to 67, according to information from the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.
On the West Side, a 19-year-old man was fatally shot Saturday in the 1500 block of North Milwaukee Avenue in West Town, police said. One day earlier, a man was found strangled to death in the 1100 block of North Pulaski Road in Humboldt Park, according to officials.
Twenty-one homicides have been logged so far this month. Forty-four homicides were recorded in September 2012, RedEye determined.
