The Northwest Side saw three homicides in the last week, according to a RedEye analysis of preliminary police data.
On Monday, a 24-year-old woman was stabbed to death in the 6500 block of West Addison Street in Dunning, police said.
On Friday, a 36-year-old man was fatally shot in the 2800 block of North Spaulding Avenue in Avondale, according to officials.
That same day, a 21-year-old man was shot to death in the 2900 block of North Kilpatrick Avenue in Belmont Cragin, police said.
This is Dunning's first homicide of the year, while Avondale and Belmont Cragin have each recorded two homicides in 2013, according to RedEye data.
Meanwhile, South Shore logged two homicides this week. On Wednesday, a 23-year-old man was fatally shot in the 7500 block of South Yates Boulevard, police said. Three days earlier, a 22-year-old man was shot to death in the 1500 block of East 76th Place, according to officials.
Citywide, gunshot homicides have been logged in the last week in Greater Grand Crossing, McKinley Park, the Near North Side, South Chicago and West Garfield Park, RedEye determined.
Thirty-four homicides have been recorded so far in June. Forty-seven homicides were logged in June 2012, RedEye found.
