Austin, Englewood and Gage Park each recorded a homicide in the last week, a RedEye analysis of preliminary police data found.
In Austin, a 22-year-old man was stabbed to death Monday in the 5000 block of West Ohio Street, police said.
Austin has logged three homicides so far this year. The West Side community area recorded 37 homicides last year, according to RedEye data.
In Englewood, a 29-year-old man was shot to death Friday in the 6900 block of South Morgan Street, officials said.
Englewood has recorded three homicides so far this year. This South Side community area logged 21 homicides last year, RedEye found.
In Gage Park, a 19-year-old man was fatally shot Feb. 7 in the 2300 block of West 50th Place, police said.
Gage Park has recorded three homicides so far this year. The Southwest Side community area logged six homicides last year, RedEye determined.
Citywide, six homicides have been logged so far this month. Twenty-nine homicides were recorded in February 2012, according to RedEye data.
