Grand Boulevard, West Englewood and West Pullman each recorded their fifth homicide of the year in the past week, a RedEye analysis of preliminary police data found.
In Grand Boulevard, a 19-year-old man was shot to death Tuesday in the 4700 block of South Calumet Avenue, officials said. Grand Boulevard recorded eight homicides last year, RedEye found.
In West Englewood, a 47-year-old woman was stabbed to death Saturday in the 7200 block of South Ashland Avenue, police said. West Englewood logged 19 homicides last year, according to RedEye data.
In West Pullman, a 23-year-old man was shot to death May 2 in the 300 block of East Kensington Avenue, officials said. West Pullman recorded 13 homicides last year, RedEye determined.
Belmont Cragin also logged a homicide Monday. A 41-year-old man was fatally shot in the 5000 block of West Belden Avenue, according to officials.
Six homicides have been recorded so far in May. Fifty-one homicides were logged in May 2012, RedEye data shows.
