Two 16-year-old boys were killed last week in South Lawndale, a RedEye analysis of preliminary police data found.
On April 14, a boy was shot to death in the 2700 block of South Pulaski Road, police said. A day earlier, a boy was stabbed to death in the 2600 block of South Ridgeway Avenue, according to officals.
South Lawndale has seen six homicides so far this year, according to RedEye data. The community area recorded 16 homicides last year, RedEye determined.
Citywide, gunshot homicides were recorded in Brighton Park, Chatham, Greater Grand Crossing, New City, South Chicago, South Shore and West Englewood in the last week, RedEye found.
Meanwhile, a 1-year-old Roseland boy died Sunday after he was suffocated and beaten to death, according to officials.
Twenty-one homicides have been recorded so far in April, according to RedEye data. Forty-seven homicides were recorded in April last year, RedEye determined.
