The North Side saw two homicides in the last week, a RedEye analysis of preliminary police data found.
In Irving Park, a 19-year-old man was shot to death Saturday in the 4200 block of West Irving Park Road, police said.
One day earlier, a 5-month-old girl was found suffocated in the 2500 block of West Fitch Avenue in West Ridge, according to officials. She later died.
Both community areas have one homicide for the year, RedEye data shows. Irving Park logged one homicide in 2012 while West Ridge recorded six killings, RedEye found.
Citywide, gunshot homicides were recorded in the last week in Humboldt Park, South Chicago, Washington Heights and West Pullman, RedEye determined.
Meanwhile, a man was found stabbed to death Friday in the 6700 block of South Kedzie Avenue in Chicago Lawn, police said.
Fourteen homicides have been logged so far this month. Forty-one homicides were recorded in April 2012, RedEye determined.
