Humboldt Park recorded two homicides in two days last week, a RedEye analysis of preliminary police data found.
On March 20, a 76-year-old woman was strangled to death in the 900 block of North Central Park Avenue, police said. One day earlier, a 47-year-old man was stabbed to death in the 700 block of North Trumbull Avenue, according to officials.
Humboldt Park has seen three homicides so far this year. The West Side community area logged 14 homicides last year, down from 18 killings in 2012, RedEye determined.
Citywide, gunshot homicides were recorded in the last week in West Englewood and West Garfield Park, according to police information.
Meanwhile, a 27-year-old man was stabbed to death Friday in the 7800 block of South Bennett Avenue in South Shore, police said. Two days earlier, a 59-year-old man was beaten to death in the 7100 block of North Clark Street in Rogers Park, according to officials.
Nineteen homicides have been recorded so far this month. Seventeen homicides were logged in March 2013, according to RedEye data.Copyright © 2015, RedEye
