South Chicago and South Lawndale each saw double homicides in the last week, according to police information.
In South Lawndale, two men, ages 19 and 32, were shot to death Sunday in the 2800 block of South Sawyer Avenue, police said.
South Lawndale has logged five homicides so far this year. The West Side community area recorded 10 killings last year, down from 13 in 2012, RedEye determined.
In South Chicago, two men, ages 16 and 18, were fatally shot Saturday in the 8200 block of South Houston Avenue, according to officials.
South Chicago has recorded six homicides so far this year, including a double homicide in January. The South Side community area logged 11 killings last year, down from 14 in 2012, RedEye found.
Citywide, gunshot homicides were recorded in the last week in Austin, East Garfield Park, Garfield Ridge, Greater Grand Crossing and West Town, according to police information.
Twenty-one homicides have been logged so far this month. Twenty-four homicides were recorded in April 2013, RedEye found.
