Morgan Park and South Shore each recorded a homicide in the last week, a RedEye analysis of preliminary police data found.
In Morgan Park, a 48-year-old man was stabbed to death Sunday in the 11400 block of South Rockwell Street, police said.
Morgan Park has logged one homicide so far this year. The Southwest Side community area recorded four homicides last year, according to RedEye data.
In South Shore, a 26-year-old man was fatally shot Saturday in the 7800 block of South Muskegon Avenue, officials said.
South Shore has logged four homicides so far this year. The South Side community area recorded 20 homicides last year, RedEye determined.
Twelve homicides have been logged so far this month. Fifty-two homicides were recorded in March 2012, RedEye data shows.
