Woman dies day after shooting on West Side

A woman who was shot as she walked out of a gas station in the Homan Square neighborhood on Monday has died, officials said.

The woman was identified as Lakeisha Tate, 28, of the 300 block of South Hamlin Avenue, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.

Tate was pronounced dead at 5 a.m. at John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County. An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday.

She was shot at about 1:41 p.m. Monday was leaving a Citgo gas station on the 3300 block of West Harrison Avenue on that block when she and another woman got into an argument which ended up in the victim being shot, police earlier said.

Police had earlier said the woman was 25 and may have been pregnant.
