West Englewood man's death ruled homicide

A West Englewood man found dead in his apartment died in an assault, according to police.

Edward Caridine, 44, was found by his roommate in their apartment on the 7000 block of South Claremont Avenue about 9:45 a.m. Wednesday, authorities said.

He was unresponsive and pronounced dead there about 9:50 a.m. Caridine's death was ruled a homicide, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.

The cause of death was listed as "assault."

No one is in custody and Area Central detectives are investigating.
