A 17-year-old boy was pronounced dead this afternoon, two days after he was shot inside a vehicle steps away from his home in the Albany Park neighborhood.

Miguel Delaluz of the 4900 block of North Whipple Street was pronounced dead at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, according to a spokesman for the Cook County medical examiner's office.

Delaluz was shot about 2:25 a.m. May 20 as he sat in a vehicle with a 19-year-old woman on the same block where he lived, police said.

Police said a gunman approached the teens in the car and began firing.

Delaluz was struck in the head and shoulder and was taken in critical condition to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center.

The woman was struck in the right forearm and was taken to Swedish Covenant Hospital, where her condition was stabilized. She was later transferred to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston.
