Police: Logan Square man held for July murder

A Logan Square neighborhood man is facing murder charges following the shooting death of a 25-year-old man last month in the Humboldt Park neighborhood, police said.

Carlos Rivera, 18, of the 3900 block of West Wrightwood Avenue, was charged with murder in connection with the July 13, shooting that occurred in the 3700 block of West LeMoyne Street at approximately 1:50 a.m., according to a police News Affairs statement.

The victim, Fernando Sanchez, 25, was pronounced dead about two hours later at John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.

Rivera is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, according to News Affairs.
