A 24-year-old woman died of multiple stab wounds at her South Side home, officials said.

Authorities found the woman at 7:12 p.m. Monday inside a residence in the 3500 block of South Rhodes Avenue, Chicago Police Department News Affairs Officer Ron Gaines said.

April Dixon was pronounced dead in her home at 8:31 p.m., according to a representative for the Cook County medical examiner's office. An autopsy conducted today determined that she had died from multiple stab wounds and her death was ruled a homicide, according to the office.

Dixon was found unresponsive in her home, officials said.

Police said a staff member from her building found her body after her family had not heard from her in a day, said police.

Police did not immediately release further information about the death, which happened in the Ida B. Wells/Darrow Homes neighborhood.

Police had no one in custody this afternoon, police said.
