Police: Man fatally shot in Englewood, 2 others shot

A 25-year-old man was shot in the Englewood neighborhood late Friday morning and after being temporarily revived was later pronounced dead, police said.

Someone shot the man about 10:42 a.m. in the 6900 block of South Elizabeth Street, said Police News Affairs Officer Jose Estrada.

The 25-year-old was initally pronounced dead on the scene, said Estrada, but the man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where he was revived.

The man, identified as Alonzo Williams, 24, of the 1200 block of West 70th Street, was pronounced dead at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn at 2:06 p.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner's office. Williams died from multiple gunshot wounds, the medical examiner's office determined following an autopsy Saturday.

Court records show Williams had previously lived in the 6900 block of South Elizabeth.

A family member disputed initial police information that Williams had been shot in the face.

No one has been arrested and Area South detectives are investigating.

In addition to that shooting, a male was shot on the 7500 block of South May Street at 11:54 a.m., police said The male sustained two gunshot wounds and was taken to an area hospital, his condition was not immediately available.

Another person was also injured in that incident. A 31-year-old man sustained a graze wound and refused medical attention, police said.
