At least eight people were shot this morning and Saturday afternoon on the South and West Sides.
Police are also investigating the death of a man whose body was found by a man brushing snow off his car in the Lawndale neighborhood.
At 7:30 a.m. the man called 911 after finding the body lying on a sidewalk in the 4300 block of West Cullerton Street.
The victim, Louis Berry, 24, of the 3200 block of West Potomac Avenue was pronounced dead on the scene at 7:48 a.m., according to the Cook Count medical examiner's office.
Police did not respond to any calls of shots fired in that area and they are still trying to find out what happened to him.
Detectives were called to the scene and it was not known how long the victim was outside, police said.
In the most recent shooting, a 54-year-old man was shot about 6:55 a.m. in the 5600 block of South Western Avenue, police said.
Police said an armed assailant approached the man and opened fire, fleeing on foot. The man suffered a gunshot wound to the groin and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition had stabilized.
About 6 a.m., someone in a vehicle shot a man and woman inside another vehicle in the 4700 block of South Throop Street, police said.
The man, who is 36 years old, was struck in the back and taken to John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County, where he was listed in serious condition. The 23-year-old woman sustained a gunshot wound to the hand and was taken in good condition to Saint Bernard Hospital and Health Care Center.
The vehicle the pair was riding in crashed after the shooting at the corner of Throop and West 47th streets.
Earlier, a 36-year-old man was shot about 4:30 a.m. in the 500 block of North Pine Avenue, in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side.
Police said the man was inside a vehicle when a second vehicle pulled up and at least one person inside opened fire. The man was struck in the hip and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was listed in good condition.
Authorities described the shooter's car as a a dark brown sedan but did not provide a make or model.
About 3:45 a.m. in the Gresham neighborhood, a 41-year-old man was shot in the 1500 block of West 79th Street, police said. The man was was standing in an alley when shots rang out and he realized he was struck, police said.
The man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where his condition was stabilized.
About 2:55 a.m., a 34-year-old man was shot in the elbow in the 500 block of West 104th Street, police said. The man was riding in a vehicle when he heard gunfire and felt a bullet graze his elbow, police said.
The man was taken to MetroSouth Medical Center in Blue Island, where he was listed in good condition.
Earlier, about 12:25 a.m. a 23-year-old man was hurt in a drive-by shooting in the 3600 block of South Rhodes Avenue, Police said. Someone in a passing dark sedan opened fire, striking the man in the lower right leg. The man was taken to Mercy Hospital and Medical Center, where his condition was stabilized.
Saturday afternoon in the Homan Square neighborhood, a 29-year-old man was shot about 2:40 p.m. in the 700 block of South Homan Avenue, police said.
The man told police he was sitting in a vehicle when a blue minivan approached and someone inside fired shots at the car, police said.
The man was struck in the buttocks and transported himself to Mount Sinai Hospital, according to Police News Affairs Officer Veejay Zala said, where his condition was stabilized.
