A 31-year-old man died this afternoon after being shot in the head by an attacker who jumped out of a minivan and opened fire on him Sunday afternoon, authorities said.
Salvador Ponce, of the 2700 block of South Komensky Avenue, was declared dead at 1:45 p.m. at Mount Sinai Hospital after being shot Sunday afternoon, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
The victim was on the street in the 4100 block of West 30th Street--near Kedvale Avenue, about 4:30 p.m. Sunday when a green minivan drove up and a man or boy jumped out and shot the man in the head, said Chicago Police news Affairs Officer Daniel O'Brien.
The attacker then got back in the minivan and it sped away, O'Brien said.
