A South Shore neighborhood man who was shot and robbed last weekend died Wednesday night, authorities said.
Geremy Hoover, 24 and of the 7200 block of South Yates Avenue, was pronounced dead Wednesday at 8:49 p.m. at John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Hoover was walking with a friend in the 7200 block of South Wentworth Avenue about 1:15 p.m. Sunday when the attacker walked up to him and asked Hoover if he could use his cell phone, police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli said.
After the attacker demanded Hoover empty his pockets and give him his valuables, Hoover and the companion tried to run away but the gunman fired several shots at Hoover, hitting him, Mirabelli said.
When Hoover fell to the ground, the attacker went through his pockets and took his belongings before fleeing the scene, Mirabelli said.
No arrests have been made.
