Man charged in 2012 slaying of Maywood man

A 22-year-old West Side man has been charged in the shooting death of a Maywood man who was killed last August in the city's Lawndale neighborhood.

Willie Woods of the 100 block of North LaCrosse Avenue was charged with first-degree murder for the death of Dominique Green, said police.

Green, 23, was standing on the corner of the 700 block of South Independence Boulevard Aug. 1, 2012, when someone approached from behind and shot him several times, police said.

The shooter then jumped into a waiting SUV that was later spotted northbound on Independence Boulevard.

Green, of the 1700 block of South 6th Avenue in Maywood, was taken in critical condition to Mount Sinai Hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.

Wood was arrested Tuesday and scheduled to appear in bond court this afternoon.
