Man, 30, dies after being shot New Year's Day

A 30-year-old southwest suburban man has died after being shot New Year’s Day while sitting in his vehicle on Chicago's South Side, authorities said.

Myron Brown, of Bridgeview, was pronounced dead at 8:35 p.m. Saturday at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.

Brown was shot about 1:30 p.m. Jan. 1 while sitting in a vehicle in the 8700 block of South Honore Street in the Greshman neighborhood, Chicago Police Department News Affairs Officer Amina Greer said.

An unknown shooter approached the driver's side of his vehicle and fired shots, striking Brown multiple times, Greer said.

No suspects are in custody in the shooting.
