Eight people were wounded in separate shootings across the South and West sides overnight, according to Chicago police.
Four of the shootings happened between 2:15 a.m. and 3:30 a.m., and none happened north of Interstate 290, the Eisenhower Expressway.
The most recent shooting happened about 6:21 a.m. near the intersection of 27th Street and Kedvale Avenue in the Little Village neighborhood.
The victim, who is a documented gang member, was shot in the left leg, right thigh, and the buttocks, was taken by an acquaintance to Mount Sinai Hospital where his condition had stabilized, Estrada said.
No one was in custody and Area Central detective are investigating, Estrada said.
About 3:25 a.m. in the 3300 block of West Douglas Boulevard in the Lawndale neighborhood, a 51-year-old man who was standing outside was shot once in each thigh. He drove himself to Loretto Hospital and is in stable condition, Chicago Police Department News Affairs Officer Amina Greer said.
About 10 minutes earlier, a 27-year-old man was shot in the foot in the 2400 block of South Washtenaw Avenue in the Little Village neighborhood. He drove himself to Mount Sinai Hospital, Greer said. He’s in stable condition.
Police pulled over a speeding car on Garfield Boulevard at Racine Avenue in Englewood and found a 22-year-old man inside who had been shot in the arm, Greer said. The man had been shot in the 5900 block of South Maplewood Avenue in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood about 2:55 a.m. He's at John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County, where his condition had stabilized, police said. Someone shot him when he was getting into his car, Greer said.
About 2:15 a.m., a man was shot near 71st Street and Rhodes Avenue in the Grand Crossing neighborhood. The 23-year-old heard shots and felt pain, police said, and was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County with a thigh wound.
Two young men were shot on Prairie Avenue in separate Bronzeville neighborhood attacks at 12:05 a.m. and 1 a.m., police said.
A 24-year-old man drove to a gas station at 47th Street and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive after someone shot him in the hand in the 4800 block of South Prairie Avenue about 12:55 a.m., police said. The man was taken from the gas station to Stroger hospital.
Someone dropped a 20-year-old man off at Mercy Hospital and Medical Center with a gunshot wound about 12:10 a.m., police said. Two men approached the man in the 4000 block of South Prairie Avenue, demanded money and started beating him, Greer said. The man tried to flee and was shot once in the leg.
On the Far South Side, a 17-year-old boy was shot near 107th Street and Hoxie Avenue in the South Deering neighborhood about 8:15 p.m. Saturday night. The boy was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center with a wound to the right arm, police said; his condition has stabilized.
