A 16-year-old boy shot during a West Englewood robbery was one of at least 7 people shot Tuesday evening into this morning, according to police.
About 7:53 p.m., several male assailants approached the 16-year-old as he rode his bike down the 1800 block of West 71st Street, said Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Veejay Zala.
The group demanded the boy's bicycle, and when he tried to ride away, someone pulled out a gun and fired several times, Zala said.
The teen sustained gunshot wounds to the thigh and buttocks and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where his condition was stabilized.
The assailants fled with the bicycle and have not been taken into custody.
In the most recent shooting, a 25-year-old man was shot at 4:48 a.m. in the 300 block of East Garfield Boulevard, Chicago Police Department News Affairs Officer Jose Estrada said, citing preliminary information.
The man arrived at Roseland Community Hospital shot in the foot, according to police. He was listed in good condition.
Earlier this morning, a 35-year-old man was shot and seriously hurt in the West Garfield Park neighborhood.
The man was standing in the 0-100 block of South Kostner Avenue when a male gunman approached and opened fire, News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said. Bullets struck the man in the back, arm and leg, and he was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition.
His condition was later stabilized.
At the scene of the shooting, police officers laid about a dozen evidence markers on the sidewalk on the west side of Kostner, next to a three-story red brick building with a butcher shop on the ground floor.
Multiple squad cars raced from the scene at one point after police received a call of another person shot nearby, but the call turned out to be bogus, police said.
About 10 p.m., a 35-year-old man was shot in the 2900 block of East 89th Street, in the South Chicago neighborhood police said.
The man was shot in the arm and taken to Advocate Trinity Hospital, where he was listed in good condition.
About the same time, a 28-year-old man was wounded in a drive-by shooting in the Englewood neighborhood.
Someone opened fire from a black sedan as the man was standing on the sidewalk, striking the man in the foot, Alfaro said.
An acquaintance to0k the man to St. Bernard Hospital, where he was listed in good condition.
About two hours earlier in the the Rogers Park neighborhood, a 20-year-old man was shot about 8:05 p.m. in the 7200 block of North Sheridan Road.
The man was struck in the shoulder and both legs and taken to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, where his condition was stabilized.
About 7:30 p.m., a 28-year-old man was shot in the leg in the 3500 block of S. Vincennes Avenue. He was taken to Mercy Hospital, where his condition was stabilized.
