The death of a 53-year-old man who was found shot Friday at his Far South Side home has been ruled a homicide.

An autopsy Saturday determined Cleotha Brooks Jr., of the 0-100 block of 104th Street in the Roseland neighborhood, died of a gunshot wound to the face, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.

The victim was found unresponsive at the bottom of stairs at his home, suffering head trauma, authorities said at the time.

Brooks was pronounced dead on the scene at 2:45 p.m. Friday, according to the medical examiner's office, which ruled his death a homicide.
