A 15-year-old boy has been charged with murder in the stabbing death early Friday of his 25-year-old brother, authorities said.
Steven Tigue, 25, was pronounced dead at 1:38 a.m. Friday at South Suburban Hospital in Hazel Crest. He died from multiple stab and incise wounds in a homicide, the Cook County medical examiner's office determined following an autopsy Friday.
Police were called to the family's home in the 2800 block of Chayes Park Drive in Flossmoor about 12:55 a.m. Friday, and arrested Michael Tigue, 15, who Friday afternoon was charged with murder in his brother's slaying, police said in a news release.
Police said they found Steven Tigue in the home suffering from what appeared to be a stab wound, and took his brother into custody at the time. Police did not disclose any details about what happened, other than to say that the stabbing appeared to be the result of "a domestic situation," and that it was the first homicide in Flossmoor in more than 30 years.
Along the quiet block, which straddles the Flossmoor-Homewood border, neighbors expressed shock at news of the murder. One neighbor, who declined to give her name, called the family "wonderful neighbors, probably the best neighbors I've had."
Michael Tigue was scheduled to appear in Cook County Central Bond Court Sunday.
