An afternoon shooting in the Bronzeville neighborhood has left one man dead, authorities said.
Kelvin Jemison, 29, was declared dead at 3:20 p.m. at the University of Chicago hospitals following the shooting in the 4500 block of South Champlain Avenue, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
The victim was shot in the head about 3 p.m., according to police News Affairs Officer Joshua Purkiss.
Jemison lived in the 4700 block of South Michigan Avenue, a few blocks from where he was shot, according to the medical examiner’s office.
Earlier versions of this story incorrectly gave the victim's first name as Kevin.
