A 19-year-old woman was killed and a 23-year-old man was injured in a shooting this afternoon in the West Pullman neighborhood, police said.
The shooting was reported at 12:37 p.m. on the 11700 block of South Eggleston Avenue on the Far South Side, Chicago Police Department News Affairs Officer Daniel O'Brien said.
A 19-year-old woman was shot in the head and taken to Roseland Hospital where she was pronounced dead, according to police and fire department officials.
She was identified as Natasha Green of the 11700 block of South Normal Avenue, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office. She was pronounced dead at 1:20 p.m., according to the office.
Green and the man were walking westbound when a gray car also driving westbound pulled up and someone from inside began shooting before fleeing.
The man was treated and released for his injury. Area South police are investigating, police said.
