Jessica Simpson spent the day in Chicago last Wednesday for a quick trip to shop and promote her new country album.
Simpson began her day by doing an interview with US 99.5 (WUSN-FM) in Prudential Plaza. After she finished her interview, she told fans waiting outside the building that she actually did 22 interviews in there and was sick of hearing herself talk.
Simpson then went to Rockit Bar & Grill for lunch and spent the afternoon hitting her favorite Windy City stores including Jake and Barneys.
I caught up with Simpson on Rush Street and told her I thought she did a great job at her country debut at the Country Thunder music festival in Twin Lakes, Wis., a few weeks ago.
After her performance there, dozens of publications reported that she was "booed." I told Simpson I could understand her frustration with the reports, because I videotaped the whole show, and you can't hear one boo in the footage.
"It's frustrating because it was my big country debut, and all people are focusing on is something that didn't happen," Simpson said.
She added that during her interviews to promote her new album, that performance is always brought up.
"I go into these interviews, and people ask me about getting booed, and I tell them I didn't get booed! If they would've booed me, I would've yelled at them," she said.
Simpson's new album comes out on Nov. 9 this year (Nine is her lucky number). It also is her Dallas Cowboy boyfriend Tony Romo's jersey number.
Swayze, 'Beast' still in town
Patrick Swayze continued to film scenes for his new A&E TV series "The Beast" last week in the studio at Chicago Studio City on the West Side. The show's crew has built a studio set there, which is where they plan to shoot most of the show. The set consists of an apartment and a replica of Emmit's bar. The famous Chicago hangout also was featured in a scene of "Ocean's Eleven" with Matt Damon and George Clooney.
