A woman was found dead in an alley in the West Town neighborhood with a possible gunshot wound to her head, police said.
Police were called to the 1800 block of West Walnut Street about 9 a.m. after a person saw the woman's body in the alley, said Chicago Police Department News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli.
After police and paramedics arrived, investigators determined that the woman may have sustained a gunshot wound to her head, Mirabelli said.
She was pronounced dead at 10:25 a.m. at the scene, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
Preliminary information indicated that the woman may have been in her late teens to early 20s, officials said.
