A 70-year-old woman was found slain at her Magnolia Glen neighborhood home with trauma to her neck this afternoon on the North Side and a man is in custody, officials said.
At 12:10 p.m. police conducted a well-being check at an apartment in the 1300 block of West Thorndale Avenue and found the body of the woman with multiple stab wounds to her body, said Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Jose Estrada.
The fatal stabbing is believed to be domestic-related, police said.
Estrada would not say who called authorities to the home which is in the Edgewater community area or if the man being questioned lives there.
The Cook County medical examiner’s office said the woman was 70 years old but would not release her name pending notification of her family. She was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:39 p.m. She appeared to have trauma to her neck. An autopsy was scheduled for Thursday.
Area North detectives are investigating, police said.
