A Spring Grove woman died this morning after she slipped and fell under her rolling van while paramedics were preparing to take her husband to the hospital, police said.
The chain of events started at just before 2 a.m., when an ambulance was called to the Spring Grove home to assist a man with a undisclosed medical problem.
The man’s wife, June Severs, 83, got in her van and backed out of the garage to follow the ambulance. For unknown reasons, she stepped out of the van, slipped on the wet pavement and fell under the van, according to a release from the McHenry County Sheriff.
The van was not in park, and rolled backward over Severs, police reported. She was taken to Centegra Hospital McHenry, where she was pronounced dead.
Her husband’s condition was not disclosed.
