One man was killed and three others were wounded in shootings that occurred within an hour of each other Thursday night on the South Side.
A fight broke out between two gangs in the 8300 block of South Kostner Avenue around 10:15 p.m., police said. Yusef Allen, 21, of the 8400 block of South 84th Place, grabbed a brick during the fight and was shot in the back, police said.
Allen was pronounced dead after being transferred to Advocate Christ Medical Center, according to police.
Police recovered casings from a .45-caliber gun but no one is in custody. Police are investigating whether the shooting is connected to the wounding of four people in Burbank a week ago.
About 25 minutes earlier, a light-colored car stopped near two men sitting on a porch in the 11800 block of South Union Avenue in the West Pullman neighborhood, police said.
Someone inside the car opened fire and wounded a 20-year-old man in the leg and an 18-year-old man in the foot, police said. Both men were in good condition at Advocate Christ Medical Center, police said.
