The Chicago-based comedy organization that publishes The Onion is soon to announce a new nationally touring satirical show, staged in partnership with The Second City. "The Onion Live!" is to bow Sept 28 at the Capitol Theatre in Columbus, Ohio.
The Onion said, in typical style, that audiences will be entertained with "the Onion's journalism secrets through a series of presentations from the same news and lifestyle experts who train The Onion's handsome, knowledgeable staff. Audiences will learn everything from how to chase a scoop to how to become as insanely wealthy and successful as our own reporters."The Second City, which has extensive experience in the comedy touring business, is to provide the backbone of the theatrical production. Onion CEO Steve Hannah described the enterprise as a "funny, biting new incarnation of The Onion."
This will be the first time The Onion has attached its name to a stage show. Plans call for "The Onion Live!" to tour the country during the fall and winter of 2013.
