The Steppenwolf actress Laurie Metcalf will star with Patti LuPone in a new David Mamet play slated for Broadway in the fall of 2012, the producer Jeffrey Richards announced Thursday.
The play, "The Anarchist," was written for two actresses. One plays a prison inmate who was once a member of the Weather Underground, or a fictionalized version thereof; the other plays the prison governor with whom she must argue for parole.
Mamet will direct. Rehearsals, one might reasonable assume, won't be for the faint of heart.
