TBS Just for Laughs Chicago said Thursday that it plans to stage most of its smaller shows for its June 11-16 comedy festival at one venue: Stage 773 at 1225 W. Belmont Ave. on the North Side.
Dubbed a "digital comedy hub," Stage 773 (which has four theaters) will be fully booked by the Montreal-based Just for Laughs. Shows there will be live-streamed across multiple digital platforms, including Pandora, Google+, Twitter, Instagram and the like. The acts at Stage 773 will mostly be young talent with an emphasis on solo shows. All tickets will be $15.
Stage 773 will replace the small venues such as the Lincoln Lodge, used in previous festivals, which were more spread out across the city. Just for Laughs now will take place at The Chicago Theatre, The Vic, Park West, the UP Comedy Club, Stage 773, and a few at Jokes and Notes on the South Side.
