The British stage-and-screen actor Simon Callow will appear at the Broadway Playhouse in the spring, it was announced Tuesday evening.
Callow will present the solo show "Being Shakespeare," a piece by Jonathan Bate that interweaves segments of the Bard's plays with musings on his life and times. It's part of a short U.S. tour for Callow, who has worked in Chicago before.
"Being Shakespeare" has been seen in London and Edinburgh. The two-week engagement (April 18-29) at the Broadway Playhouse, 175 E. Chestnut St., is under the auspices of the Chicago Shakespeare Theater's World's Stage series.
