2 shot, 1 dead overnight in South Side shootings

One man was killed and another wounded in South Side shootings overnight, authorities said.

A man in his 20s was shot in the head and body near 76th Street and South Shore Drive in the South Shore neighborhood about 3:30 a.m. Sunday. He died at the scene, a spokesman for the Cook County medical examiner's office said.

Authorities said the man's body was found at Rainbow Beach, 2860 E. 76th St., and that the man's feet and hands were bound with duct tape when his body was discovered. No one is in custody.

Additional details about that shooting weren't immediately available.

A 19-year-old was shot about 10:30 p.m. Saturday near 79th Street and South St. Lawrence Avenue in the Chatham neighborhood.

The man was on a sidewalk with a couple others when someone walked up and shot him.

Police said the man wasn't "exactly cooperative," and that he's expected to recover from the single gunshot wound he sustained to his abdomen.

He was treated for that wound at John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County.
