The producers of "Riverdance," the massively successful Irish dance extravaganza, have announced that Chicago will host the United States premiere of their newest endeavor, "Heartbeat of Home," a new show that will fuse Irish, Latin and Afro-Cuban dance forms and feature a new score by Brian Byrne.
A global cast of forty is planned, along with ten live musicians. The director is John McColgan (who also helmed "Riverdance") with "narrative and lyrics" by Joseph O'Conner. The choreographer is David Bolger.
"Heartbeat of Home," said to employ cutting-edge technology, will first be seen in Dublin this fall and then head around the world. The U.S. tour will kick off in Chicago at the Oriental Theatre, 151 W. Randolph St. Performance dates are March 4-16.
