Remembering William Russo: A major celebration in store

"I'm very optimistic that really good things could come from this," says Hall.

"I think this is an opportunity for the music department and the college as a whole to embrace all of the great things that Bill established over the years.

"For the last 10 years, much of that has kind of been lost, because of (institutional) change. But we're in another transition period."

For Williams, the event offers an opportunity "to renew awareness of who Bill Russo was, including among the younger generation of artists and musicians in Chicago, and also certainly at Columbia College."

Ten years later, the remembrance begins not a moment too soon.
