Profiles Theatre is to stage the world premiere of Neil LaBute's newly revised version of the play that spawned the movie "In the Company of Men."
"In the Company of Men," which starred Aaron Eckhart, was itself based on an early stage work by LaBute, whose work was seen in the early 1990s at the now-defunct Cafe Voltaire in Chicago while LaBute was living in the city. The movie was LaBute's breakthrough in Hollywood.
LaBute, who has a close and long-standing relationship with the small Chicago company, created the new work for Profiles, whom he referred to as "trusted collaborators." Given the availability of the new work, the planned production of "The Break of Noon" has been postponed until the following season.
"In the Company of Men' will run May 10-June 30. Rick Snyder will direct. Casting has yet to be announced.
