Boy, 16, killed in Back of the Yards neighborhood

A 16-year-old boy was gunned down in the Back of the Yards neighborhood on the South Side, authorities said.

Officers responding to a call of shots fired found Angel Cano unresponsive in the 4300 block of South Paulina Street around 5:20 p.m. Tuesday, authorities said.

Cano, of the 2200 block of West 50th Place, was shot several times, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office. He was pronounced dead on the scene at 5:35 p.m. An autopsy is scheduled today.

Police had no one in custody, according to Police News Affairs Officer Ron Gaines.
