Photo gallery: A history of Gurnee

Settlers began coming to the area that would eventually become Gurnee in 1835. Named after former Chicago Mayor Walter S. Gurnee, who may not have ever even been there, the village has become a destination in the Chicago area, thanks to Six Flags Great America and Gurnee Mills. Take a stroll through the Chicago Tribune photo archives for the history of the Gurnee.
