Police are questioning a person of interest in the stabbing death of a woman this morning on the Lower West Side in the city's Heart of Chicago neighborhood.

Shortly before 7 a.m., police responded to a stabbing on the 1700 block of West 21st Place, said Police News Affairs Officer Dan O'Brien.

Joanna Lopez, 26, of that address, was fatally stabbed in a possible domestic-related dispute and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office and police.

A person of interest was being questioned by police but as of 7:30 p.m., no charges had been filed.
