A 54-year-old man was gunned down in Englewood this morning, hours after shootings on the South and West sides left a man and woman injured Sunday night, authorities said.
The Englewood shooting happened about 5:25 a.m. in the 1200 block of West 72nd Place, Police Department News Affairs Officer Jose Estrada said.
The man was shot several times and died on the scene, Estrada said. He was pronounced dead at 5:35 a.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
He was identified as Todd Coleman who lived next door to where he was shot, according to the office.
On the South Side, a 55-year-old man was critically hurt in a shooting in the East Hyde Park neighborhood.
Someone who had been involved in an earlier altercation with the 55-year-old walked up to the man about 8:55 p.m., as he stood on the sidewalk in the 5400 block of South Cornell Avenue, police said.
The shooter pulled out a handgun and opened fire, hitting the man in the cheek, neck, and chest, News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said.
The man was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.
Shortly after on the West Side, about 9:15 p.m., an 18-year-old woman was shot in the leg and hand, Alfaro said.
The shooting happened in the 5800 block of West Superior Street, in the South Austin neighborhood.
The woman was talking with other people on the sidewalk when two male assailants approached and opened fire, Alfaro said. The woman was taken to Loyola University Medical Center, where her condition was stabilized.
No suspects were in custody in any of the three shootings as detectives investigated.
