Cops: 7-Eleven heist was 2nd for Spider-Man bandit at same store

This morning's holdup of a 7-Eleven store in the Montclare neighborhood by a man in a Spider-Man ski mask was the robber's second heist at the store in a month, police said.

The robber displayed a handgun during the robbery, which happened about 5 a.m. in the 2700 block of North Harlem Avenue, Police News Affairs Officer Laura Kubiak said.

He fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.

On Jan. 24 about 9:45 p.m., the man robbed a convenience store also in the 2700 block of North Harlem Avenue, Area north detectives said in an alert this evening. The store was the same one the man robbed today, police said.

In both robberies, the man entered the store, brandished a handgun and demanded money from the cash register, according to the alert.

The robber was described as a white man between the ages of 20 and 29, standing between 5-foot-8 and 5-foot-11, wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt and the blue-and-red Spider-Man ski mask.

Anyone with information about the robberies is asked to call 911 or Area North detectives at 312-744-8263.

2012’s “Magic Mike” and its sequel, “Magic Mike XXL,” could have been so stupid, and I’m sure those who haven’t seen either one assume that they are. Vince Staples deals in pessimism, for good reason. The Long Beach rapper has seen a lot of violence and despair in his 21 years. He'll tell you about it too, in unflinching clarity that few artists his age possess. There’s little if any hope in his music. Yet even with the darkness oozing out of...
