The National Endowment for the Arts released on Tuesday the schedule for the Thursday visit to Chicago and Evanston of NEA chairman Rocco Landesman.
Landesman, the federal agency said, will participate Thursday morning in a roundtable discussion and walking tour, focused on the efforts to create a performing-arts district in downtown Evanston (little money has been committed to that so far). The chairman will then head to the South Side to learn about the Rebuild Foundation and its attempts to turn an abandoned building on the 6800 block of S. Dorchester Ave. into the Black Cinema House Live/Work Space.
These projects are the recipients of small NEA grants under the Our Town and ArtPlace programs.
