The Mercury Theater, 3745 N. Southport Ave., officially unveiled further renovations Monday night likely to make the venue yet more attractive to commercial and other producers.
The 292-seat theater, located in the busy Southport corridor and run by L. Walter Stearns, now has a new open box-office on the North Side of the space, fully visible from the street.
This new box-office area also connects the DeLeece restaurant, 3747 N. Southport Ave., with the theater next door, greatly expanding the public areas of the Mercury.
The impressive addition to the Mercury also includes new high-end restrooms, located near the box office, and new video signs at the main marquee.
Currently playing at the Mercury is "Freud's Last Session."
